Costume Crazy — 3rd Annual Halloween Party!

This coming week (Oct 28) is your chance to show that the flat lands of Houston have robbed the Yetti nation of their creativity.   Don’t take the easy route and show up in your spandex rolling billboards.  It’s the costume throwdown.   Break in that costume you picked out for 6th Street, and come join us Tuesday at the 3rd Annual Dirt Derby Halloween Party. We will run our normal race schedule, but there will be costume awards courtesy of our good friends at Hammer, and treats for all. The Voice of Texas Cycling will make this another memorable event.   And don’t forget — AustinCross  presented by Mellow Johnny’s is this weekend.

We would love a race photographer for Saturday and the Dirt Derby on Tuesday — anyone, anyone?!

Results are posted

Last night was gorgeous, with some stiff competition from some of the ringers we have not seen in a while. Scott Henry threw down and just annihilated an A Short Track field that featured luminaries including Scott Wetherald and last year’s series champion Sean Sindt. The top ‘crossers with David Golden, Kevin Farley, and Mark Wiggans, promoter of the Wurstcross Memorial in 2 weeks. The Bs were a predictably giant field, with some of the state’s fastest roadie youth showing up to throw down Single Speeds, and the sprint of the night going to Cat 5 State Champ Eardie Curry who ran a 4.4 40 from the barriers to the finish line. Thanks for coming out – hope to see you Saturday at AustinCross!

We’re on and it’s going to be great!

After last week’s precipitation and with cooler temps, track conditions should be the best of the season. Expect fast racing, nice tacky berms, and good times for all.

Also, AustinCross Presented by Mellow Johnny’s Bike Shop is Saturday. Register online before 7PM Wednesday and save $5, or register on site race day. Season standings are posted – lots of categories are WIDE open, and we are awarding Capoforma’s custom Italian-made winners jerseys for each class. Don’t know what I’m talking about – check out our videos.

Derby Week 7

With a close eye on the weather, Dirt Derby #7 is still scheduled to go down tommorow. Course should be similar to last week, nice packed-in dirt, cool temperatures, sausages, and the usual good times.

Don’t forget about LoneStar Cyclocross heading out this weekend to Manor. It’s a nice open course and you can watch all the action. Bring the family, bring a date, bring a cross bike; some combination of the three should work.

Information will be dispersed if the weather hinders the Derby, otherwise cross and MTB short-track under the lights is on tomorrow.

Week 6 Results

Have been posted, check ’em out if you missed them last night.

Sean Sindt, after getting 2nd the past two weeks in the A MTB race, grabbed first in a close finish. Brian Fawley got his second win at a Pirate Race Productions event in as many tries as he put the hurt on the A cyclocross field.

And towards the end of the night, things finally started feeling a little like fall…

Feel free to warm up for next weeks Derby at AggieCross this weekend, maybe think about dusting off the arm warmers, hope that the weather smiles on our lowly venue, and come back next week.

A little rain might be nice

It looks like a little precipitation on Monday night might make for some super-fast, dust-free racing this week. In case its a lot of rain, check this site and your email Tuesday afternoon before you head out – no news is good news, otherwise we’ll post if its a wash-out.

Don’t forget that LCS#2: Aggie Cross and the first Texas Short Track races will be at Lake Bryan on Saturday as part of the PowerPedal weekend. Online registration – with a $5 discount – is open until Wednesday at 7PM at BikeReg.com
