Back by Popular Demand: OAKLEY VELODROME RACING

The die-hards demanded it, so we are once again offering the world's only mtb and 'cross friendly track racing.

The roundish course is about 300 meters, and flat, consisting of hardpack clay with some loose sand on top in places.

There will be "A" and "B" races. Experts, etc in A, Beginners in B, the rest of you do what you are most comfortable with.  The racing schedule varies each week

A description of the different race formats is HERE. As the season goes on, we will hold a Madison, a Keirin, and other race formats. Whatever, just show up - its the most fun you'll ever have at a bike race.

Rain Policy

Our first priority is to race, however, Austin/Del Valle Motocross Park is made of clay that is impossible to drive a car on, much less ride a bike, when it is saturated. If there has been substantial or consistant rainfall in the days prior to race, we will have to postpone or cancel that weeks event. Each season has one rain date built into the schedule to help mitigate this eventuality. Every week we will post the race status in the banner on the top of the webpage, email everyone, and post to TXBRA and TMBRA. When in doubt, call us to confirm.

Don't just look out your window and stay home!  Storms that pummel 360 or Downtown Austin often completely miss Del Valle. Luckily, the course is within a mile or two of Austin-Bergstrom Int'l Airport - so if you check the weather there, you'll have a strong indication of conditions at the course.

Important Safety Notes

1) Helmets are mandatory. Make sure to bring one and wear it any time you are on your bike, including on your way from your car to the track and back.

2) No bar ends allowed. For your safety and that of the other riders, please remove bar ends from your mountain bike prior to ANY race.

3) Bar plugs mandatory. All handlebars must be plugged (e.g. no open tube ends).

4) Parents are mandatory. Minors MUST be accompanied by a parent or guardian AT ALL TIMES (e.g. no dropping kids off).

5) No pre-riding during races. Please do not interfere with racers or judges. There will be roughly 10 minutes between races where you can get on the course - an announcement will be made when it is open. There is a large loop on the west side of the property where you can warm up safely - avoid using the driveway or other areas where there are cars.
