October 6th Hammerhead Bicycles Dirt Derby Canceled

New month, same weather. Things are currently ‘squishy’ out on the course. If you were at ACL this weekend, you still don’t know what mud is. At this point, an ark made of innertubes is a possibility, and also perhaps throwing rice all over the course to soak up the moisture.

As previously, next time will be Ladies Night. As always, check the website, www.dirtderby.com, for the latest information on race details. In the meantime, click on over to our Sponsors page, dirtderby.com/sponsors for ideas on what to do with your Tuesday evening.

Awaiting our second return of 2009,

Hammerhead Bicycles Dirt Derby Featuring True Fabrication.

The pigs would be happy …

but we are not.    It’s too muddy in the parking lot for cars and the track has not dried sufficiently.

Next week, Oct 6, will therefore be the start of Series #2 (and Ladies Night).
In case you are wondering about how/if you qualified in Series #1 for Hammerhead Bicycles 40% Off Redline Cyclocross Bike deal, here is the deal:
  • In order to qualify for a 40% Redline coupon from Hammerhead, you need to race in a CX race for all 4 weeks in a 4-week Series.
  • IF we have a cancelled week(s), you need to race in a CX race for 3 weeks in a shortened Series
  • IF there are less than 3 weeks in a Series (like Series #1), then the 1st week of the following Series is needed to accumulate the 3 total weeks and get your Redline coupon.

So, if you raced CX in both weeks so far, then you just need to race next week to qualify.  If you weren’t able to race either of the first 2 weeks, then show up next week and get started for Series #2.

Keep your fingers crossed for next week!

Pretty New Flyer

Well, now that the Hammerhead Cycles Dirt Derby featuring True Fabrication is all sponsored, we’ve rolled out a new flyer with pretty new logos on it. A warm welcome to the Peddler Bike Shop as sponsor of our MTB races;  check out their new location on 51st and Duval.

We’re monitoring the rain and using our (sponsorship available) C-130 Hercules to deploy anti-precipitation measures into the approaching front.  If that doesn’t work, and the weather makes things unrideable, we’ll let you know, otherwise plan on the usual good time and the not-as-usual Ladies Night where ladies race for free.

It’s Ladies’ Night

This Tuesday, September 15th, LADIES RACE FREE, brought to you by Bobby’s Bikes!   That’s right, one race, three races … they are all free!

We didn’t want to leave out you guys, so we’re including people who look like ladies.  If a guy can convince registration they are worthy, then they can race for free too, but lame attempts will not be rewarded. If we get enough people we might even have some “Drag Races” in the inner loop during the beginner race time slot.

So come one, come all and have a great time! Next month we’ll have an even better Ladies Night including a clinic led by the Luna Chix, but FREE isn’t a bad way to start!

About our special sponsor for this event: Bobby’s Bikes is your one stop, full service bike repair center! Bobby’s Bikes is Campy, Shimano and SRAM Certified. Sachs, Suntour and good old Mavic. Suspension and Hydraulic certified. Hayes, Magura, Hope, Shimano, and Avid brakes. Need a custom set of wheels? Let Bobby build you up a custom set of handbuilts!

September 8th Results

Another Derby, another good crowd, decent heat, and still another Le Mans start. If you thought cyclocross couldn’t be more painful, why not run to the bike?

We’re now halfway through our first four-week series, and look for overall results soon. They take a bit longer than the race results because we double-check them using supercomputers.

As the title hints, results from today’s race are up. And here’s some photos provided by Steve Burger of last weeks race, lookin’ sharp gentleman & lady

See you next week
