Somehow the rain completely missed Del Valle, and about 50 folks made the trip, including comparably large Beginners Women’s-only fields. Thanks especially to a big crowd of volunteers who believed me when I said it was going to be perfect weather, and our friends from the Violet Crown for rushing out with the course marking materials. It turned out to be a beautiful evening for spectators and racers.

Election night results
The most important results from election day are now online. Don’t forget to register for the Lonestar Cyclocross Series’ final event: Diablo Del Valle. Online registration – with its $5 discount – closes Wednesday at 7; onsite registration opens Saturday at 9AM and runs until 10 minutes prior to each start.
Spooky and kooky …
Check out the photos page for a link to Robert’s photos and a small gallery from Jonathan.
Results Posted and Week 10 Action
Week 9 results have been posted. It was a very Dirt Derby Halloween tonight. We had a caveman, a pirate, Dorothy, a Canadian, a twisted fairy, an afro’d Elvisy character, and assorted other things which I do not know how to set about describing. Photos were taken, sausages were consumed, and a fun time was had by all.
Next week! It’s election day. You know what that means – vote early so that you can race your bike, or just skip voting entirely. Besides, if you really want change, if you want to be a maverick, you’ll be out racing rather than watching election coverage. Daylight savings time may end, but our party don’t stop, so bust out those clear sunglasses lenses and do your patriotic duty. Race.
Costume Crazy — 3rd Annual Halloween Party!
This coming week (Oct 28) is your chance to show that the flat lands of Houston have robbed the Yetti nation of their creativity. Don’t take the easy route and show up in your spandex rolling billboards. It’s the costume throwdown. Break in that costume you picked out for 6th Street, and come join us Tuesday at the 3rd Annual Dirt Derby Halloween Party. We will run our normal race schedule, but there will be costume awards courtesy of our good friends at Hammer, and treats for all. The Voice of Texas Cycling will make this another memorable event. And don’t forget — AustinCross presented by Mellow Johnny’s is this weekend.
We would love a race photographer for Saturday and the Dirt Derby on Tuesday — anyone, anyone?!
We’re on and it’s going to be great!
Tues October 14th is CANCELLED
Derby Week 7
With a close eye on the weather, Dirt Derby #7 is still scheduled to go down tommorow. Course should be similar to last week, nice packed-in dirt, cool temperatures, sausages, and the usual good times.
Don’t forget about LoneStar Cyclocross heading out this weekend to Manor. It’s a nice open course and you can watch all the action. Bring the family, bring a date, bring a cross bike; some combination of the three should work.
Information will be dispersed if the weather hinders the Derby, otherwise cross and MTB short-track under the lights is on tomorrow.
Week 6 Results
Have been posted, check ’em out if you missed them last night.
Sean Sindt, after getting 2nd the past two weeks in the A MTB race, grabbed first in a close finish. Brian Fawley got his second win at a Pirate Race Productions event in as many tries as he put the hurt on the A cyclocross field.
And towards the end of the night, things finally started feeling a little like fall…
Feel free to warm up for next weeks Derby at AggieCross this weekend, maybe think about dusting off the arm warmers, hope that the weather smiles on our lowly venue, and come back next week.
